on friday, radio 4 had an interview with an american woman who collected stray gloves. she had lived many years in cambridge, where she noticed there were many lost gloves on the pavement. at some point she started picking them up, taking them home and washing them. she collected them in a bin bag.
when she moved back to america, she took the opportunity to clean out and throw things away, but she kept her glove collection and moved it back with her to the states. she said that she had more left gloves than right, and the left ones were more likely to be black. she also said that she saw more stray gloves in england than america, and surmised that it was due to people walking more in england.
in the 48 hours since hearing the interview, i already have seen five gloves on the ground. four were left handed, and of those, three were black.
