on new year's eve, we got tickets for the theatre production of one flew over the cuckoo's nest, which is showing in london with christian slater playing the role of mr randle mcmurphy. we were skeptical of this at first, since slater could easily have been selected for the part for no other reason than he looks remarkably similar to jack nicholson when he was cast in the role for the movie version several decades ago. but the show has been incredibly successful and the reviews have been positive. we agreed with the reviewers. slater has great stage presence and played mcmurphy believably, making the part his own. mackenzie crook, known for his role on the comedy series the office, played the role of the stuttering billy bibbitt and was another highlight. the season has been extended until 22 january and if you get an opportunity, it's worth seeing.
