the movie yentl is on tcm tonight. as soon as they played the first cheesy streisand song , i suddenly realized that not only did i see this movie in the cinema with my parents when i was 12, i also apparently had the soundtrack on cassette tape. after all these years, during which i never thought once about this movie, i can still sing along with some of the songs. memory is a funny thing.
why can't i let these bad lyrics go and make room for something more important?
Now that is funny. Last night I sat up until almost 2am (yes) poking around on the iTunes Store, taking a trip down memory lane. An old Rod Stewart song got things started (You're in My Heart) and pretty soon I was browsing through their collections of stuff from about 1977-1986. Bascially, everything on the radio during my late elementary school years through high school. I recognized all but a few of the songs (amazing) and within seconds, I was able to remember the lyrics to even some of the most esoteric stuff. I bought probably 20 songs by the time I was done. Worse, not all of them were particularly good. songs
