you know the old rumour that when your child starts in nursery you get sick all the time? well, for those of you who don't have kids and might have thought it was exaggerated, let me tell you straight: it's the absolute truth. since madeline started her settling in sessions with nursery on 18 december, i've had two separate throat infections, madeline has had a constant cold, richard has had a cold and now maddie has caught a tummy bug.
not such a great record for three weeks. can someone with experience tell me how long we have to suffer before we are immune to all of these illnesses?
6 months I think. When I left Microsoft to start teaching, I had the new-teacher-must-catch-cold syndrome. It took me 6 months to go through all the common bugs to build immunity against them. Constantly healthy eating habits and refusing to share my water with the kids has left me cold free for 2 winters now -- something I am very proud of! Cross my fingers -- I need it to be that way, especially this winter.

Alas, Malcolm was sick about every six weeks from when he started in August through May - so you will probably get a break around summer :{.
It's terrible now but once the bugs run through you, things should be fine!
