on the route between our house and maddie's nursery is a very busy roundabout. on the best of days it's just a little nerve-wracking. on bad days, it's truly dangerous. four lanes merge to three, but it's not marked, so you have to cross your fingers that the people around you are aware of this and then drive incredibly defensively.
yesterday i dropped madeline off and drove back home. it was rush hour, and the roundabout was heaving with traffic. there were queues in all four lanes, and people were being really aggressive. i was paying really close attention to the car that was trying to merge into my left side, and forgot to notice the car coming around the roundabout, which had right-of-way. i pulled out, had to slow to ensure the car didn't hit me, and when i waved to apologize sheepishly for my dodgy move, i noticed it was my neighbour waving back.
how embarrassing.
