after a few days of planned offline time focused on rest and recovery, i am back with my daily posts. richard and his sister have gone to twickenham stadium for the heineken cup rugby final this afternoon, and madeline and i are planning a short walk to the park with our neighbour and friend hilary. i'm feeling good and glad to be back up and running.

while i got a little confused between the characters for the first half of this book, and i wished i had a little more political context, i enjoyed this. set in pre-revolutionary china, this looks at a russian girl who falls in love with a chinese communist.
