maddie has a new language. it sounds like this: "yabi yabi yabi yabi." when she doesn't know how to say something, she says this instead.
our conversations go something like this (as when we're reading a book with animal magnets this evening):
me: maddie, do you see a sheep?
maddie: yeah [pointing at the sheep]
me: maddie what does a sheep say?
maddie: baa-baa
me: right! can you see a butterfly? isn't it pretty?
maddie: [pointing at the butterfly] yeah, mum! yabi-yabi-yabi-yabi
i interpret this to mean "yes, mummy, it's gorgeous. i saw one in the garden yesterday." but i suppose it could just as easily be "yes, mummy, i'm not an idiot. can we please move on to something else?"
for the time being, i prefer to believe it's the former.
Didn't the smurfs used to do this to... Does she happen to be 3 apples tall? :-)
My litle sister just moved to London. Looks like I should really get around to that trip!
