when i used to travel a lot (read: too much) for work, i would frequently wake up in the morning and be unsure what city i was in. i remember once sitting up in a hotel, looking around, and actually needing to get out of bed and look out the window before figuring out that i was in hamburg that week.
richard and i just got home from a fantastic weekend away in cambridge. we went there for a wedding reception, and stayed at regent hotel in the city centre. richard's mum watched madeline for us, so we slept in this morning before going for a run through cambridge and brunch together. it was relaxing and great fun.
yesterday at the wedding reception, richard and i had a whole conversation about a half-marathon we ran a few years ago in vancouver and what makes people like vancouver more than seattle. for some reason that conversation must have stayed with me, because this morning when i woke up, i was momentarily unsure where i was and my first conclusion was vancouver! obviously i figured out quickly that this was wrong, and that was particularly obvious as we ran past the gorgeous kings college chapel a few hours later.
