the national portrait gallery has a new sketch of j.k. rowling, and the description says that she wrote all of the first harry potter book in long hand, sitting in a cafe. that sounded like such a romantic idea, and i decided maybe i should try to write some more of my blog posts long hand, after yesterday's attempt when i was in london. so here i am, pen in hand, second day in a row.
i would venture to guess that this will be the last day, as well, unless forced in the future. three reasons: 1) i am used to editing as i type, so my vision of a nicely written page is in actual fact a scribbled out mess 2) i have to retype this anyway (i'm only guessing j.k. has someone who does this for her?) and 3) my hand cramps up after about three words.
i am not really a romantic at heart, anyway. pragmatism is more my style.
