when richard asked me what i would like to do on my birthday weekend, i asked if we could walk across the road and over to runnymede, to attend the chinese state circus. the circus comes most every year to the fields near us, sets up its massive tent and holds a series of performances. we went to a show a few years ago and it was great.
this year the fields are very muddy--so muddy that we wore wellies and the circus had to hire extra staff to push the cars out of the flooded car park surrounding their big top. but once we were inside, we forgot the mud and the rain and were transfixed by the performance. highlights for me incuded the hoop jumpers and the slack rope walking.
