it is an amazing thing watching a child develop.
madeline is turning eleven months old next week, and i feel that she is doing so many new things every day it's hard to even notice them all, let alone capture them. she has only recently "found her feet," or to be accurate i should say "found her knees" and is really getting around the house and going where she likes. her favourite place to go is to her bookshelf, where she says "b-b-b" (should i generously interpret this as her first word?), takes some books off the shelf, and brings them to me to read to her.
she is currently selecting:
mr brown can moo, can you? by dr seuss
the tickle book by ian whybrow and axel scheffler
the wheels on the bus by paul o. zelinsky
she has good taste, and i enjoy reading these books, but when i know all the words by heart, and "boom, boom, boom, mr brown is a wonder" is going through my mind as i try to go to sleep at night i know i've been through them a few too many times! i have been sneakily trying to move some other good books closer to the front of the shelf, but it doesn't work: each time she goes for her "b-b-b," she brings back at least one of these three.
